Power Lines is designed to create a sense of connection between vibrance and longing. The idea of Power Lines came to me when I was staring out my window. I saw large power lines in the distance, and I started to think. These structures we have created in modern society are crucial for our day-to-day lives and stretch for vast distances. Yet they can seemingly go unnoticed.
I wanted to expand upon this thought musically both realistically describing the nature of power lines and the concept of elements in our lives that go unnoticed. There are moments of high intensity through aggressive homorhythmic passages juxtaposed with slow passing harmonies that stretch time. I wanted to specifically capture the unity of these traits with pulse. All sections of Power Lines remain at a constant tempo of 126 BPM.
Whether we decide to notice these power lines or not does not particularly matter. What does matter is that we must never forget the power of those that are hidden in plain sight.
