Cosmic Connections aims to capture the sounds of the Nazca Lines. The giant geoglyphs etched into the Nazca desert in southern Peru have posed many questions. What can be inferred about the purpose of these geoglyphs is that they were the Nazca’s way of sending messages into the cosmos. After doing research on the many geoglyphs in the Nazca desert, I decided to use three for this piece: the hummingbird, the spider, and the condor.
I. Hummingbird: This small and fast creature sends a celestial idea of vibrance and velocity.
II. Spider: The haunting movement of the spider portrays a dark dance with an unnerving melody fading in and out of the groove.
III. Condor: One of the largest birds takes flight into infinity, carrying a message to the cosmos. I conclude the piece with an unresolved harmony to represent the condor finally moving beyond our view as well as the unending mystery of the Nazca Lines.
